Financial Assistance for Birth Mothers
Adoptive families in Indiana may provide reasonable financial assistance to help support a birth mother during pregnancy and postpartum recovery. This support may begin in the second trimester and extend up to six weeks after the baby is born.
Covered expenses can include:
- Housing and utilities
- Transportation
- Maternity clothing
- Other essential living costs
Adoptive parents may also pay for any uninsured medical expenses related to the pregnancy and delivery.
If the baby has already been born, assistance may still be provided for qualifying expenses from the second and third trimesters and during recovery. All financial assistance must comply with Indiana law, and we guide adopting families through the applicable legal requirements to ensure everything is handled ethically and transparently.
